Exness demo account: open it right after registration
No deposit is needed. The demo is created in the Personal Area as soon as registration on the official exness.com is done — it trades virtual funds at the same market prices a real account receives, and it runs on MT4, MT5, the Web Terminal, and the Exness Trade app.
The short version
What the Exness demo is — four facts
No deposit needed
A demo can be opened right after registration, before any money is added. Registration itself is an email and a short questionnaire on the official exness.com — the walkthrough is in the registration guide.
Virtual funds only
The balance is virtual: orders open and close as usual, but wins and losses never touch real money. There is nothing to withdraw and nothing to lose.
Real market prices
The demo uses the same market prices as a real account — the chart, the quotes, and the spread (the gap between the buy and sell price) are the ones real accounts see.
All four platforms
MT4, MT5, the Web Terminal, and the Exness Trade app all open demo accounts. One nuance: the Web Terminal and the Trade app are MT5-based — an MT4 demo signs in through the MT4 desktop terminal or the MT4 mobile app.
Platform by platform
Where the demo runs: MT4, MT5, Web Terminal, and the app
| Platform | Demo account | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| MT4 | MT4 demo — desktop and the MT4 mobile app | Windows desktop; 9 timeframes, 30 built-in indicators. The mobile version runs on iOS and Android. |
| MT5 | MT5 demo — desktop and the MT5 mobile app | Windows desktop plus official macOS and Linux packages; 21 timeframes, 38 built-in indicators, depth of market (a live order book). |
| Web Terminal | MT5-based demo | Runs in a browser tab on Windows, macOS, or Linux — nothing to install. |
| Exness Trade app | MT5 demo | iOS and Android. An MT4 demo signs in through the MT4 mobile app instead. |

A demo, like any Exness trading account, is created for one specific platform — MT4 or MT5 — inside the Personal Area, and that choice decides which terminals can sign in. Installers for every route are on the downloads page; all routes sit on the platform board.
Step by step
How to open an Exness demo account — five steps
-
Register on the official exness.com
The account button on this page leads there; registration takes an email and a short questionnaire. Registration and login happen only on the official exness.com — never on this site. Checking the address bar before entering a password shuts out phishing copies.
-
Sign in to the Personal Area
The Personal Area — the client dashboard for accounts, deposits, and settings — uses the email address and password chosen at registration.
-
Open a new trading account
Inside the Personal Area, start a new trading account and pick Demo instead of Real. No deposit step follows — the balance is virtual.
-
Choose the platform: MT4 or MT5
The demo is created for one platform, exactly like a real account. MT5 covers the desktop terminal, the Web Terminal, and the Trade app; MT4 covers the MT4 desktop terminal and the MT4 mobile app.
-
Open the terminal and sign in
Installers download without any login — routes by device are on the downloads page. The demo's account number and server name are shown in the Personal Area; the trading password is set when the account is created and can be reset there.
If the demo does not show up
- The terminal asks for a number and a server, not an email. That is the platform login — different from the Personal Area login. The demo's account number and server name are listed in the Personal Area next to the account.
- The demo is missing in the Trade app. The app works with MT5 accounts. An MT4 demo lives in the MT4 mobile app instead.
- Opened it for the wrong platform? A separate demo for the other platform can be opened in the same Personal Area — accounts are per-platform, so this is the normal fix, not a workaround.
The proving path
After the demo: Standard Cent, then Standard
A demo teaches the terminal, but not the feeling of real money. The middle step between the two exists for exactly that reason.
Learn the terminal at zero stakes
Order tickets, closing rules, chart tools — every mechanic rehearsed on virtual funds, where a mistake costs nothing. Stay here until the platform itself holds no surprises.
Standard Cent — real money, cent-sized
A cent-denominated account: balances are counted in cents, so very small real trades are possible. Real prices now come with real — but tiny — consequences. No minimum deposit.
Standard — the default real account
The spread-only account most traders start real trading on, also with no minimum deposit. The full comparison of all five account types is on a separate page.
Account types in detail →The demo → Cent → Standard order is a path, not a rule — each step is opened separately in the Personal Area. Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone.
Not just for starters
What a demo is for when the platform is not new
What a demo run catches early
- Expert advisors before real balances. An expert advisor (EA) — an automated trading robot — can run on a demo against live prices for weeks before it touches real money. Both MT4 and MT5 demos run their platform's EAs.
- A platform switch, rehearsed. Moving from MT4 to MT5? A demo on the new platform shows the differences — 21 timeframes instead of 9, 38 built-in indicators instead of 30, depth of market — before any real position depends on them.
- New instruments and order types. Contract settings, session behaviour, and unfamiliar order types checked on virtual funds first.
A demo proves the terminal, not the strategy
Demo results show that a platform is understood — they do not promise the same results on a real account. Live trading adds slippage (a fill at a different price than the one quoted) and the weight of real money on every decision.
That gap is what the Standard Cent step is for: real conditions, cent-sized stakes.
Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone.
Quick answers
Exness demo account: frequently asked questions
Does the Exness demo account expire?
Demo lifetime is a policy detail that can change, so the current rules are the ones published on the official Exness website. What does not change: opening a fresh demo takes about a minute in the Personal Area and needs no deposit.
Are demo prices different from real prices?
No — the demo uses the same market prices as a real account, so charts and quotes match. What a demo cannot fully reproduce is live execution: slippage and the pressure of real money. That is why the Standard Cent account exists as the next step.
Can several demo accounts be open at once?
The Personal Area holds more than one trading account, real and demo — for example, one demo on MT4 and another on MT5, since each account is created for a specific platform. Current limits on the number of accounts are shown on the official Exness website.
How does the switch from demo to a real account work?
A demo is not converted — a real account is opened separately in the same Personal Area, and the demo stays available for testing. Standard and Standard Cent accounts have no minimum deposit; identity verification is completed in the Personal Area before real trading. The steps are in the registration guide.
The demo starts at the official door
Registration on the official Exness website takes a few minutes — email and a short questionnaire — and the demo can be opened right after, before any deposit. Virtual funds, real market prices, on MT4, MT5, the Web Terminal, and the app.
Open Exness AccountThe button opens the official exness.com through this site's partner route. The demo, like every account, is created there.
